We will have another LEGO class starting on April 5th and going through June 14th. Class time is Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5:00. The class is presented by “RobotU” and brought to you by your PTA. Students will build and program advanced LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 robots that use various sensors and motors from the robotic competition kits (these are the same sets that the FIRST LEGO League recommends). Parents must sign up to chaperone at least one class–LEGO classes cannot happen without at least one parent volunteer present at each class.

Volunteering is fun and a good way so see “what your kid is doing at school!” Look for fliers in kid mail or contact
Sandra Newby at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
We have another LEGO class starting on January 18th (Wednesday). It is presented by “RobotU” and brought to you by HT PTA. The class, “Junior Robotics with LEGO WeDo”, provides an excellent opportunity for girls and boys grade 1 through 3 to get introduced to the world of robotics and programming. Class meets Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30, January 18th through March 29th. Look for more information in Kid Mail or contact Sandra Newby at email@example.com with any questions. Important reminder: after signing your student up for class, please sign up to chaperone at least one class. LEGO classes cannot happen without at least one parent volunteer present at each class. Volunteering is fun and a good way so see “what your kid is doing at school”.
Note about Enrichment Classes: Limited, partial scholarships may be available for enrichment classes. To apply, please contact the Family Advocate, Sherri Dobb, at 206-393-4346 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Highland Terrace Elementary PTA is holding 8 weeks of Robotics Classes this spring session for our 1st through 5th graders, Wednesdays 3:35 PM to 4:35PM
LEGO WeDo is an easy-to-grasp software programming and engineering system that introduces young students to robotics. Students build various contraptions that use a motor, sensors, and the programming that they themselves create with the special WeDo Software.
Your student may know little to nothing about programming currently, but in this class they will find out how fun and creative it can be when they learn that they can control the robots that they build.
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math have never been so fun!
Class Fee $96.00

Girl Powered Pre- Engineering using LEGO
Inspired by women engineers and scientists, this course will provide a supportive environment for girls to build engineer-designed projects such as boats, bridges, mazes and motorized cars. Explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO building system with the guidance of and experienced Play-Well instructor. (Male students are welcome to join!)
- Open to grade K-2
- Thursdays, January 14th -February 4th
- 3:35pm to 5:05pm
- Fee: $68 for four sessions
Biome Exploration using LEGO
Create our natural world using LEGO! Deserts, forests, oceans and cityscapes; examine how our world moves, while exploring the energy sources that make it possible. This is a great introduction to core concepts of environmental engineering for students.
- Open to grades K-2
- Thursdays, February 25th-March 31st
