Parents & Teachers! Please Complete the “Legislative Issues Survey 2009-2010”.

By completing this quick survey, you will be able to tell our school PTA Executive Committee and the State PTA

what issues are the most important to you. You can download the survey at http://www.wastatepta.org/meetings/leg_assembly/index.html, by clicking the link on the left in the Legislative Documents box or pick up a hard copy at the school and leave it in the box provided. Anyone can fill it out. 

The main issues up for consideration this year are:

  • Basic Education funding

  • Special Education and Highly capable funding;

  • State Assessment Improvements

  • Weighted GPA (grade point averages) at the High School level, Music and Arts Education funding

  • Support Rational Approaches to Teacher Compensation;

  • Support State of Education CORE 24 Framework

  • Strengthen Math and Science education

  • Strengthen School and Traffic Safety& Emergency Preparedness

Your vote will help rank these issues for WSPTA as they develop the second year of its two year legislative platform.  All issues that were adopted at last year's Legislative Assembly will remain on the platform for this year and retain their rank order.  At the 2009 Legislative Assembly on October 2nd and 3rd, we will address both proposed amendments to issues currently on the platform and new issues that will be voted on and ranked at the end of the current platform.
